Things to Know Before Getting Volume Lash Extensions

Posted on

When most people talk about lash extensions, you can assume they are talking about false lashes that are applied mainly to make their natural lashes seem longer. But sometimes, that is not your only goal. Sometimes, you may want lashes that not only look longer but also dramatically fuller. If this is the case, then you should talk to your salon professional about volume lashes. They are a specific type or style of false lashes that are primarily meant to look really voluminous. The look is bold and dramatic; nobody will be able to miss your lashes.

There are, however, a few things you should know before you have volume lashes applied.

1. The process will take longer.

With standard eyelash extensions, your stylist will add about one lash for every natural lash you have. But for volume extensions, you will get somewhere between three and five lashes added for every one lash you have. As such, it will take your stylist longer to apply the lashes. Count on being in the chair for at least an hour to have volume lashes put in place. Your first appointment may even take slightly longer than that.

2. The lashes will be fine and thin.

The lashes used for volume lashes are different from those used for standard lash extensions. You're not just getting more extensions; you're getting a different kind. They are finer and fluffier, and they will feel more like fur when you touch them. Because they are finer and fluffier, you need to be extra gentle when you cleanse and care for them.

3. The results will look more like false lashes.

One reason many women opt for standard eyelash extensions is that they look more natural than the false lashes they are used to applying at home. Note that this is not true of volume extensions. They are very thick and obvious, and it will be apparent that you are wearing false lashes. They have a great, dramatic look that many women love, but it's not a natural look. This might not matter to you if this is the look you want.

4. You will feel them at first.

The lashes used for volume lashes are made as lightweight and fine as possible, but since a lot of them are used, your eyelids may still feel heavy when you first get them. This is no reason to be alarmed; the sensation of having heavy eyelids should fade within a day or two.

Now that you know more about volume lashes, you're ready to make an appointment and try a new look.
